Not all stories can have a happy ending. Spesially not if you´re a fisherman! This is one of these stories. Longum Lake in Arendal is famous for it´s pike fishing. It delivers from time to time 10 kg + pikes and has so much food (perch and whitefish) in it, that it can hold many big ones without any problems. The thing that is sad, is that lately it doesn´t deliver like it used to do. I have fished this lake for years, and know many experienced fishers than trolls and drifts this lake so...

Late summer 2009. A group of very hopeful fishers takes off at Gardemoen airport, Oslo. We have been sponsored by several Norwegian fishing and sport brands, and the goal was to get the mysterious arctic char in Svalbard summertime. The rumors was that it is impossible to catch it with fishing lures summertime. Net fishing from helicopter It started one day, in my work lunch room. A well travelled man told us that a friend of him had fished for scientific purposes after arctic char from...

Finally. Rena river. One of the norwegian dream rivers of mine. After quitting Jakt & Friluft AS, Martin Ellingsen, Kim Solberg and I decided that we should have one last gathering as a team. We have fished the National Trout Competition together and have been running three fishing stores for a while together. Now, we decided to end it with what we likes the most - with fishing! Kim lives in Gjøvik and has most big trouts around him, so we let him decide the place. When he asked us to fish...

Togheter with Martin Ellingsen, Lars Sandsengen and Trond Olsen we went to Selsjøen just a couples of hours from Oslo to search for some big trouts. But even with some brilliant guiding from our to local friends, Trond and Lars, this weekend would be a difficult one. The weather was not stabil, but we really had some perfect moments on this beautiful lake, that really is full of nice trouts. Each trout had to be lured out of the water will all our skills and patiences. We stayed one night, and...

Yngve Wehus Aasgaard came into Jakt & Friluft a couple of days ago with a bad reel. It wasn´t easy to find something wrong with the reel, but I gave him the new Daiwa Aird 2000 reel, just to make shure he wouldn´t face and more problems. Happy he returned to Grimstad for more fishing, and just some hours later he stood in the shop again. This time he had a nice seatrout with him and a big smile on his face. The new reel, the Kinetic Sømmet 16g White and Pink had done their job and given...

Finally! Enough fish and good weather to make a seatrout movie! After one whole day of fishing, everything was done in 1 to 2 hours at the end of the day. Read my earlier blog to read the story. Here is the movie. The sound quality is a little bad because of heavy wind. To take that away, also takes away a lot of not unwanted sound. I believe this is the best I could come up with! Enjoy!

After some rather empty trips, we finally found warmer water and better conditions than earlier this season. Me, Martin Ellingsen and Øyvind Elefsen, went to Vest Agder´s beautiful areas for seatrout, to find warmer water. We started our trip in Mandal at Bankebrua. This is normally "the sure thing" but not this morning. After this we travelled to Vigeland, not equally stabile, but offers some great average sizes. Here we met to flyfishermen, and they had been fishing for three hours, without...

I have to admit that Fireline has been used a lot on my fishing reels from 1997 and up to now. I like others brands like Sufix 832 and Spiderwire Stealth or Code Red and others like them. But for casting with normal spinning reels, and specially smaller sizes under the 4000 size, I prefer the coated versions like Fireline. But now there is a new king in town; Nanofil. This is the slickest I have ever tried, and I have loved it for about two years. I love white lines, and from Spiderwire, Sufix...
