Even if it cosy and nice to sit inside our warm house, reading a fishing magazine and drink a cup of coffee - or two; nothing beats fishing when the fish bites! And sometimes, that´s what a great storm does; it makes the fish go crazy.
A couple of days ago I went fishing with Martin Ellingsen and Øyvind Elefsen, and we had to dress up well for the climate! It´s December, and still no snow! I guess that´s just fine, because it
would have been a couple of meters know! It has been one of the windy and rainy winters for decades here in the South.
Anyway, this day was the fly fishers crazy day, and my «not so lucky» day. Øyvind started with loosing a 2-3kg super sea trout on a streamer fly, and not a brown sleepy winter fish, but a nice and shiny one. This made us forget about the weather almost completely and we fished like crazy.
In total Øyvind caught eight trouts and Martin four. Poor me, only lost many fishes, but not a single fish could be counted in. I used bombarda floats, softbaits and flies, but «No way José» this was not my day. All fishes that was landed this day was small or colored and were all released.
As good friends, Martin and Øyvind smeared it in for hours, and I just have to say; These guys are just the best!
I´m going to Mandal to fish next monday - anyone else that wants to join me??
